Invisalign Troubleshooting

How can I tell if an attachment is off?

Answer: Match the bumps for attachments on the aligner you are currently wearing with the attachments on your teeth.

What should I do if an attachment is off?

Answer: Continue to wear your aligners as normal. Be sure to submit a repair request online (see below), so we will know to replace the attachment at your next regularly scheduled appointment.

What should I do if my aligner breaks?

Answer: Move to your next aligner and wear it for the remainder of time that you had on your broken aligner, plus the normally prescribed amount of time. Example: You are instructed to wear each aligner for 14 days. Aligner 19 breaks on day 10 of 14. Aligner 20 fits. You will wear aligner 19 for 18 days total.

What should I do if my next aligner doesn't fit?

Answer: Call or text our office to discuss the situation. We may need to reorder the aligner.

For Invisalign First - What should I do if I have a loose baby tooth?

Answer: Continue to wear your aligners as normal. If the loose baby tooth is preventing the aligner from fitting call or text our office to discuss the situation.

Invisalign FAQs

How long do I need to wear Invisalign each day?

Answer: For optimal results, it's recommended to wear your Invisalign aligners for 20-22 hours a day. You can remove them for eating, drinking (except for water), brushing, and flossing.

Do I need to change my eating habits with Invisalign?

Answer: No major dietary changes are necessary. However, it's important to remove your aligners before eating to prevent damage. Afterward, brush your teeth before putting them back in.

Can I brush and clean my teeth normally with Invisalign?

Answer: Yes, maintaining good oral hygiene is essential. Remove your aligners before brushing and flossing your teeth to prevent plaque buildup. You can also clean your aligners with a gentle toothbrush and lukewarm water.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

Answer: Initially, you might experience a slight adjustment period where speech might be affected, but most people adapt quickly. Practicing speaking and wearing the aligners regularly can help.

Will Invisalign treatment be painful?

Answer: You might experience some mild discomfort or pressure when switching to a new set of aligners, but it's generally less painful than traditional braces. This discomfort typically fades within a few days.

Can I play sports or musical instruments with Invisalign?

Answer: Yes, you can participate in most activities while wearing Invisalign. Just remove the aligners if necessary, especially for contact sports, and wear a mouthguard if recommended.
