Invisalign Care

  • Wear trays all day, all night for two weeks.
  • Take them out only for brushing, eating or drinking.
  • Taking trays in and out of mouth can be tricky. When taking out, be sure to start in the back.  With your fingernail, grab the ledge of the tray and wiggle up and down.
  • Be sure to rinse your Invisalign tray each time you take it in and out, and to brush them at least once a day. This will help keep plaque deposits from building up in your Invisalign trays.
  • Keep your trays in retainer cases as they can get lost or broken. You will be provided two cases. One case should be designated for the trays that you are currently wearing. The other case should store your previously worn trays for back-up.
  • If a tray becomes lost or damaged, contact our office promptly to re-order the tray(s), however this is not an emergency. Because it can take up to 2 weeks for invisalign to send us the replacement trays, we ask that you wear your previously worn tray(s) to prevent any undesirable tooth movement.
  • Attachments tend to break off easily due to the numerous times your trays may come in and out of the mouth.  If an attachment should come off, please contact our office to add extra time to your next scheduled appointment; this is not an emergency.  Continue wearing the tray that you are currently in and do not switch trays until the lost attachment is replaced.
  • Never move forward with your trays sooner than two weeks! It is always better to wear them a little longer than two weeks if needed.
  • When two weeks is up and you are ready to change trays, it is best to do so in the evening so you can sleep through any minor aches or pains.
  • Take Tylenol or other pain medication every 4-6 hours as needed.
